The City We Love.

So do you believe that just because someone is from your hometown that you should inevitably support them?

See I'm from Buffalo, NY. A small city in Western New York where people striving to reach the same goal do not give each other the support needed to succeed. It seems people more so oppose one other rather than uplift and provide encouragement. With so many local entertainment groups itching to be known by the public, it's not a surprise as to why people are only looking out for "self" and not for the city as a whole.

Recently one of Buffalo's aspiring emcees, John-O, member of the Freshmen Gang, made it to BET's 106&Park for the well known weekly segment "Freestyle Friday". After two 30 second rounds he was defeated by his opponent "Blind Fury". Now, the city had a lot to say about this. Negative & positive. While some thought that Buffalo should be proud that he even made it that far, some thought he put the city to shame because of his lost. I guess it's a bittersweet moment. Everyone fails at something sometime in their life. The city should have instantly became his security blanket and welcomed him home with more "better luck next time", positive things than harsh comments.
B u f f a l o.

What will it take for the city of Buffalo to come together and become successful rather than fighting their way up the ladder to finish first? I'm not even sure. But we can definitely stop putting each other down. We're all in this together and the sooner we realize this, the sooner we will be great.

Tattoos.

They are becoming more popular by the minute, thanks to our reliance on media and the hip-hop culture
I don't see this fad dying anytime soon.
Tattoos are cool to me.. I think it's nice to get permanent ink with a significant meaning.
If it has a meaning then I'm all for it.

With our favorite rappers, models, and other people in the spotlight getting tattoos daily for no apparent reason, it is inevitable that the people will follow. But lately I've been noticing that lots of people are getting inked just for the sake of having a tattoo. Just to be "part of the crowd". Pointless. Now that I don't understand, and probably never will.

Tattoos of cartoon characters and rap lyrics do not hold significance and are meaningless. If you disagree, argue it. I just can't see how Winnie The Pooh on your calf muscle is in any way, shape, or form attractive. I saw a photo of one girl with "My Heart Big But It Beats Quiet" on her collarbone. Seriously though.. Chris Brown lyrics? SMH. Also I've been noticing that females have found this new place to get inked. It's the spot right above the chest.. under the neck but above the breasts. Guess there's a right and wrong way because I have seen some people with tatts there that have looked halfway decent and some who have forever ruined such a sacred place on the body.

Gucci Mane's latest ink. -__-

I won't get too deep on people and their decisions to ink whatever they choose on whichever part of their body. I just want to leave you with one thing to remember "think before you ink." It matters.

Thursday's Thoughts.

I'm a writer. Well let's just say "aspiring". It sucks when you have no ideas. It makes it difficult to write a structured article.

But you know what? This is  a blog. So forget being all structured. My thoughts will just flow from the brain...

I just moved to Buffalo from ATL. Yep, big difference as you can imagine. But as I adjust to this city I can't help but notice a few things about this place. Besides the obvious things like the temperature decrease and geographic location I notice that this city is indeed small. "Where Everyone Knows Your Name" (just like the Cheers jingle) Seems like somehow or some way one person knows you through someone else. I've met many people here who knows someone I know. And that is not something I'm not used to. It's expected though. Guess it can be a gift and a curse all in one. Good that someone knows you but bad that there may already be preconceived opinions about you. Whatever though.. if someone isn't feeling you or what you do D R O P em. Obviously you don't need them.

Since my homie Shaun is such an awesome photographer he has the pleasure of being the cameraman at certain parties and events. Now don't take this the wrong way Buffalo, but if you must get in front of the camera then you should please make sure you are "camera friendly". In other words, make sure you are looking presentable. Pictures last forever. They are memories in still life, meant to be looked upon later in life. I just don't understand how people can jump in the camera and look a hot mess. Sweaty pits, bad makeup, appalling outfits.. I can go on. Ladies & Gents.. if you feel the need to take a picture, please feel free to look in the mirror before doing so. I don't say that to convict any one person. I just felt like that needed to be thrown out there for the public. Enough of these bad pictures, let's capture something worth saving.

Thoughts.

Mary Jane.
You know her?

I'm pretty sure you do even if you've never tried her.
Seems that nowadays a big percent of this world's population indulges in the herbal essences of marijuana. Well I can speak for my generation when I say that most of us we are pro weed. We love to discuss it and more importantly, smoke it. Because I am always around avid potheads, I pick up on little things that they tend to do and I notice that these are common things that smokers do. Just a few..

People will not share their food but will pass the blunt to the next person who may be a complete stranger.
Sure smoke ciphers are cool. Group of people.. some of them may be your friends, others associate's or people you don't know. You pass it according to rotation. Everyone's mouth has touched the blunt, yet you never complain of the possible germs one could acquire. When it comes to you're food, there's a difference.. You will never let someone who isn't close to you (some won't even allow close people) bite your burger and give it back. Sounds like a difference but is it really? NO.

Smokers defend themselves before anyone even faults them for being one.
It seems that people who smoke Mary have some sort of defense mechanism up when it comes to the herb. They will battle and challenge anything negative you have to say about it. "Mann this is all natural, it came from the Earth.. God wanted us to have this!" You've heard that before.. I know it! Haaa. Being that Mary is not completely legal in the U.S. makes it harder for people to be completely open about it. Non-smokers are always coming at our heads talking about how bad it is for you and how it will lead you to try other drugs... womp womp. That's all bull.

I'm pretty sure there are more reasons but those are my top two. I see people do those more often than any other. What are your thoughts?

Twenty Eleven.

If you are an avid fan of BMW and have been checking our blog for recent updates I apologize to you. My  name is Leftee and I am the definition of a procrastinator. Sometimes I don;t write when I know I need to. Or other times I just don't have the inspiration which means no thoughts, which means no topic.

But now you can relax, I'm here. Here to share my thoughts with you. Here to let you know how BMW is doing as a whole. Your feedback is appreciated also. We'd love to hear what you think.

Happy New Year. It's 2011!
This is the ninth day into the new year. Second decade of the new millennium What does that mean to you? Does a new year signify a fresh start.. somewhat of a new beginning for you? Or is it just a continuation of life with no change? The new year is different for everyone. While there are some people who cook big, deep pots of black eyed peas and collard greens in hopes of financial stability for the year, some just sit back and let it all unfold with no traditions. Do you make resolutions? Honestly, I feel that "resolutions" should just be goals. It seems that many individuals don't even hold their resolution for 25% of the year. Now if you set a goal for yourself it just might be a little more attainable. Or maybe the word goal just sounds a bit more feasible than a "resolution". Haa. Regardless of what you believe, BMW wishes you a blessed and productive new year.
